After 37 years, the city management meeting by the central government was held again on December 2015. The meeting stressed that city management was very important for both the party and the country, and also emphasized the necessity of long term study on city management and policy. Unban problems are becoming more complicated under the transforming period of China, so there should be study and research on city management and public policy, in order to lay a solid theoretical foundation for the development of city management under new normal.

Public administration is an academic platform for city governance. To meet the needs of city governance under the transforming period, School of Public Administration of Renmin University of China held the first National Urban Management and Public Policy Subject Development Forum in 2014. 25 city-related school and majors around the country attended the meeting. Scholars and experts in the meeting all agreed that new urbanization had brought changes to the development of city management related subject. The meeting broadened the vision of research on different cities. An agreement on the joint development of subject was also reached. All the attendees hoped the meeting could be held annually.

To make sure the meeting can be held every year, the National Supervision Committee for Public Administration Graduates set a specialized fund in 2014 to support related forums and academic research. The meeting of this year will be co-hosted by National Supervision Committee for Public Administration Graduates and China Management Modernization and Public Policy Research Committee, and organized by Central University of Finance and Economics. The meeting is initially set in May 2016.

Scholars, experts and lectures in majors such as Urban and Rural Development and Planning, City Management, Land Management, Planning Management and City Economics. They will gather together to discuss city management and public policy so as to meet the needs of city development. They will also explore how to promote city management related subjects and establish university level exchanges and communication.

6、The deadline of the conference thesis is April 15, 2016. The thesis should be enclosed in the email. The subject of the email and the name of the thesis document should be ”university name-scholar name”.
7、Fees: no fees for meals. Accommodation fees and travel fess should be paid by attendees self.
8、Meeting organizers will edit the conference thesis abstract into a book.
