Augmented Reality Food Labels

2018

This AR project is about social change through discovery. It is intended to help consumers learn more about what they are consuming, and what industries they are supporting, therefore learn more about themselves and their priorities.

Through this project people will discover more about what they are eating, discover what industries they are supporting, and with all the information in their own hands, discover what matters the most to them.

Process

Before coding, I explored ideas through sketching, and created a full paper prototype to test.

Testing a “looks-like, works-like” paper prototype was helpful in exploring different areas of transparency. I prototyped ingredients, sourcing, and production information.

I began coding using my paper prototype as an image, and a Hiro marker to generate the AR.

This prototype provides transparent information about the products ingredients, providing sourcing and descriptive information.
