On the morning of April 20^th, the School of Public Administration successfully held the “Expert Consultation Meeting on the Discipline Construction of Public Management in the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE)”, in 620 of Ningyuan Building. The meeting was chaired by Professor Libo Fan, president of the School of Public Administration.

The meeting invited prestigious scholars to form an experts consulting group including Professor Zhihua Wu from East China Normal University, Professor Xiaolin Xu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Xiaoqi Zheng from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Professor Junqing Li from the Minzu University of China, Professor Lachang Lv from Capital Normal University, Professor Hongxin Wang from Beijing Normal University, and those doctoral supervisors from the School of Public Administration. The group discussed on the development direction, platform construction, and the curriculum system construction of the public administration disciplines.

The experts had a heated discussion over the issues. Professor Zhihua Wu from East China Normal University proposed suggestions on the discipline direction and specialty setting of public management from the aspects of normalization, professionality, and accuracy of the research field; Professor Xiaolin Xu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology suggested that we should focus on ontological study and establish disciplines with typical features based on the first-level discipline; Professor Xiaoqi Zheng from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics gave a more practical view from the perspective of faculty and enrollment; Professor Junqing Li from the Minzu University of China put forward a development plan with commercial characteristics from the subdivided professional directions; Professor Lachang Lv from Capital Normal University focused on the curriculum setting; Professor Hongxin Wang from Beijing Normal University conducted a detailed analysis of public administration disciplines through the similar background of the two colleges.

This conference has collected the experts’ insights and views in the positioning the development of public administration disciplines, defining the research field, constructing the discipline platforms, and building the curriculum systems. This will point out the direction for the strategic layout of public administration disciplines, full realization of the leap-forward development of constructing public administration disciplines, and the substantive breakthroughs in talents cultivation. The School of Public Administration will also overcome the difficulties, give full play to the advantages of disciplines, and further accelerate the rapid development of public administration disciplines.
